Very cool to see a chilled out version of this tune. There was a moment or two where the performance seemed to lag a tad (0:49) or feel unnatural (fill at 2:12), but overall very expressively played. Love the bridge with the bass solo. The patch itself on the bass might warrant changing to something like a fretless bass (right now it sounds like a really low register on a wurlitzer or something). Drums kinda break the chill with the crashes at the end, feels like a bit much.

Great tune dude, you got a knack for hitting an atmospheric lounge sound. Keep it up :)

I like it, very mellow. Good use of space and ambient pads. I would spend a bit more time cleaning up the guitar performance, timing-wise. It kinda sounds like it wants to be acoustic. Barring that, maybe switch to the neck pickup and go for a darker, kinda jazzy tone.

I'm having trouble hearing this composition as a metal/rock thing up until about 1min in. You can hear it for a while, then it kinda ducks back out into more an electronic/experimental sound. Kinda left me confused.

I'm "genre blind" when it comes to music, I just categorize it by genres I know of, so that doesn't help the situation much.

Diggin the melodies, very catchy! I would like the pads and bass better with more of that NES vibe in it.

Nice kit sound! Warm, and well played (or convincingly programmed, a compliment either way). You should give some more verb to the snare and some of the synths to sort of put them in the room, so to speak. The synth horn tones are kinda distracting, only thing that kept me from a full 5 :)

Kor-Rune responds:

Thanks! Yeah Addictive Drums sounds super human with the right accents.

Thanks for the tips on the verb! I hope I befriend a horn player eventually lmao

The drive for writing is there, but I don't know about the follow through. It's kinda weird to have a death metal song with no live instruments (except for growls, I guess). My best advice would be to pick up a guitar and start tracking it live. It'll be bumpy at first, but will improve with time.
Maybe also use some drum loops or get a buddy who plays drums to help you write the beats. As they are now, the drum parts seem very unnatural. Simple + realistic > complex + awkward.

Keep writing, but more importantly, keep playing!

Good guitar sound, great use of ambience. Keep it up dude!

Navy-BlueSky responds:

Thanks a bunch!

I write and record metal, mostly. If you're a dev and like anything you hear, hit me up. I'll write you a boss battle jam or something. Honestly, not around on here much anymore, so you'd be better off just sending me an email.
